Beauty Blender

I’ve always applied my foundation with a brush, and sometimes with my fingers. I never liked using a sponge. I feel like my skin is being pulled during application and it’s never smooth. Also, most sponges are tough and hard, made of latex so not to absorb products and not really environmental friendly.

This little beauty has been around and I’ve been reading lots of good reviews. Finally, I bumped into an online store that sells it that ships worldwide! I got mine from kissandmakeupny.com for US$20 (single sponge only). Yes, pricey but sooooo worth it because the application is really flawless. There are plenty of dupes around, but NONE matched the softness of this!

The online store also sells NARS so it’s great news for us who are deprived of this luxury ;-) They’re offering free worldwide shipping for purchases US$100 and above for a very limited time, until 29 July 2011. I’m sure you can get some friends to share if you find you don’t want to buy that much.

Anyway, for those who don’t know what a Beauty Blender is, here’s what it looks like.

What is it?
This soft bouncy pink sponge is invented by top Hollywood make up artist Rea Ann Silva with promises of leaving you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion. The key is a perfect blend. Its water drop shape allows a smooth application without any hard edges or streaks. It is to be used damp, for liquid foundations, concealers, powders and even blushes. The Beauty Blender is latex free, non-allergenic and odour free.

When it’s wet, the sponge will balloon up to twice its size when dry.

How do you use it?
1. Use it damp so that it does not absorb most of your products
2. Dip the damp sponge into your product (liquid or powder, they work the same)
3. For a small area, use the pointed tip. For larger areas, use the rounded end.
4. Apply it by bouncing (stippling) the sponge lightly on your face.

Nothing expresses better than a video. Here is the Beauty Blender in action, courtesy of beautyblender.net.

I am totally in love with this little thing! One is definitely not enough. I want to buy more… but US$100 for free shipping is a little too much for me at the moment. Anyone in Malaysia wanna share? LOL!
