Smashbox O-Glow

Intuitive cheek and lip colours? I did a review on Dior Addict Lip Glow a couple of months ago and I still love mine. Here is a star product by Smashbox, called O-Glow. It’s their intuitive cheek colour that promises to make you glow from within, like you’re blushing all the time.
Here is what the tube looks like.

This excerpt is taken from smashbox.com:

Experience instant chemistry as your complexion is transformed from so-so to oh-so-glowing! The first intuitive blush, this clear gel reacts with your personal skin chemistry to turn cheeks the color you blush naturally, in just seconds! O-GLOW works on every skin tone, from the lightest to the darkest, to give everyone a customized flush of color. When applied, your skin’s moisture activates the innovative formula, producing a rosy blush that lasts all day. The unique Goji Berry-C Complex™ creates a microcirculatory, skin-energizing effect, while antioxidants like vitamin C, pomegranate seed oil and marine botanicals provide additional healthy-skin benefits. O-GLOW’S revolutionary silicone-based clear gel is easy to blend, preservative and fragrance-free, and glides on smoothly for a healthy, glowing blush that’s you, only prettier.

Winner of Allure Magazine Best of Beauty Reader’s Choice Award for Most Innovative Product, Glam Beauty Editor’s Pick Award, and Best of Sephora Award Nominee for Best Blush and Biggest Beauty Breakthrough.

The back of the tube says everything…

How do you use it?

Over makeup or on bare skin. Just dab a little onto cheekbones and blend with fingertips. The clear gel will turn into your custom shade of blush. You can even apply it to lips for similar effect. At the same time, expect your fingers to turn pink too.

Before: clear gel
After: Smooth it on and you’ll see it turn pink in seconds

The gel applies very smooth but for me, I find I have to layer it on for more noticeable colour. I’ve had mine for less than a year, and I find that it has smelled a little funky. I will go to Smashbox to “smell” theirs to determine if mine has gone bad. LOL! It’s also probably good to note that the O-Glow lasted about 6 hours on me. If you click on the above “after” picture for a larger image, you will notice some residue on my hand. That’s from the gel. I haven’t used it on my cheeks since, not until after I’ve confirmed my tube’s “health” with smashbox reps. Heheh… yeah, I’m a scaredy cat!

Will I re-purchase? Err… probably not. Reason? Personally, I feel it gets kinda boring after a while. Initially I was like Wow, cool! It’s something new. Then, the novelty just kinda went… pfft… The fickle me still like some variety to my blush colours.

To be fair to the company, if the tube has really gone a little off, this might just be a bad seed among a pool of good ones. Another friend of mine has this longer than I have and no complaints from her so far. So, let’s not point fingers at anyone here, might just be my bad luck and this is not a negative review. The natural flush it gives to the cheeks is really flattering. It’s like you’ve come out fresh from a workout.

If you don’t know what blush colour suits you, this is a no brainer – does not matter what type of skin colour you have. Pretty awesome.
