Bare Escentuals The Escape Eyeshadow Duo: So Wearable!
The Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Eyeshadow Duos were released last year October. The pressed eyeshadows contain an ingredient called the SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that supposedly gives the shadow a creamy, silky smooth texture with seamless blendability and stay-true color. Among those sold at strawberrynet, two duos appealed to me. One of them is The Escape.
The eyeshadow comes in a sleek black paper box. I like that the duos come with a name. So, when I refer to the colours, I don’t have to say ‘the one on the left’, ‘the top right colour’, and so forth. The colours in The Escape are Daydream and Wanderlust.
The packaging of the duo reminds me a little of NARS. It is rubberized and it opens up revealing the 2 eyeshadows and a full sized mirror. So far, this rubbery packaging has been attracting lots of unwanted grime, as shown in the photo below. If I touched this duo after applying foundation with my fingers, the residue from my foundation will be all over this black rubber. If you want it to stay black, then make sure your fingers are clean.
The Escape is easy. It is a very ‘safe’ duo. I don’t have to think how to wear this colour at all. Just whip it out and do what you may with these colours and they work beautifully. Daydream is a soft matte beige that reminds me of MAC Brule, but a tad bit darker. It matches my skintone quite well, but for me, it can’t be used as highlight – I prefer a lighter shade for highlights. I do however, use it as a base after primer, and also to blend out Wanderlust.
Wanderlust is a dark brown taupe, with some shimmer. It is a beautiful shade. When used sparingly, it is great to define the eyes. You can also pack on the colour for a darker smokey look. However, the slight shimmer you see on the pan doesn’t exactly transfer onto the eyes. It only gives a slight sheen to the colour, making it less flat and matte. I enlarged the swatch so you can have a proper look. The photo was taken in natural light.
These shadows are very finely milled and soft to touch. It glides on smoothly on the eyes and blends like a dream. On my oily lids without primer, it stayed on for more than 6 hours before any signs of creasing. When worn with primer, it still looks fresh after 10 hours. I absolutely love the texture! Even though I have dupes of these 2 shades, I don’t regret getting this at all. In fact, I’ve been wearing this every day for the last 10 days and I’m still loving it. This will definitely be in my go-to stash.
I bought this from strawberrynet for the price of RM73. It retails for USD25. Have you tried this before? Do you have something that is so easy to wear that you just reach for it automatically? If you haven’t, I do highly recommend it.
