Acapulco among Lagoons: Dior Vernis Summer Mix
From what I’ve been featuring lately, we aaaalllllll know it’s summer. Well, it is in some countries, but winter in others and if you live in a country like mine, it doesn’t really matter. It’s just hot and humid all year round, with some occasions of thunder storms… and a yearly hazy phase that is toxic to my allergic nose. Anyhoo, I’ve been pretty excited about Dior’s Summer Mix Lips and Nails Collection. From the 4 Vernis shades, I am the most excited about these two: Lagoon and Acapulco.
Lagoon is a creamy opaque deep sea blue. 2 coats will get you an opaque finish, but 3 coats will deepen the shade a little further, which I prefer. I have never been a sweet pink nail girly girl, and I usually lean towards darker shades. This blue is deep enough to give a sultry mysterious feel when paired with black. However, I decided to match it with something brighter to give it a pop. You’ll see
Acapulco is a colour that brings me down memory lane… back to a bright sunny yellow polka dot dress I had when I was a kid
It is a lemon yellow that changes in different lighting. Sometimes it looks paler, sometimes it looks richer. There are times when this colour reminds me of a healthy egg yolk. Either way, this is the FIRST yellow nail polish I’ve ever had. I tried it on for size, pleasantly surprised. Acapulco goes on quite sheer the first coat and I have to layer it 3 times to get an opaque finish. I have yet to wear yellow on all my 10 digits, because as soon as I got these, I decided to pair it with Lagoon. The result is quite a lovely one
See what I mean? The blue can be conservative but that one bright yellow added a little twist and fun into it. I wore it to work (a conservative environment) and no one said Whoa! which I think is a good sign. Below is another shot.
I have said before that I really like the creamier texture of Dior polishes and oh, the brush. Absolutely love it! Flat, tapered, wide. I wish the rest had bigger brushes so I’d have less of a tough time avoiding streaks. Sigh. I might be the only one though
Acapulco, Lagoon, Calypso and Cosmo are the 4 limited edition nail varnishes of the Summer Mix collection and they retail for RM72 each. Calypso is a bright red and Cosmo is a neon pink.
Have you seen these at your nearest Dior counters? If you were to try, which shade would you go for? Any yellow polishes in your stash?
xoxo Lily

Isn’t it? I think Acapulco works well with many other colours too =) Have you swatched this yet?
Yes I have! For a yellow nail polish the consistency is fab. Dior should make more of them haha
