FOTD: Statement Lips

You would have seen this in my Guerlain L’Extrait Luxure post, but I wanted to update this look for my record ;-) Sometimes I forget what I actually used for a particular look, so this is more for my archives. For those of you who haven’t seen this yet, or if you wanted to know what I used, please read on.

Since the focus in on the red lips, I kept my eyes minimal with a bit of a flick of liner. A hint of colour on the lids helped me look less swollen, and slight contouring of the cheeks pulled the look together.

Face

For base, I used a foundation with light to medium coverage. The new Dior Nude Glow foundation is good to let skin look like skin ;-) I set my face with Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre after some spot concealing. To have the subtle flush on cheeks to match the red lips, I layered a few blushes. I contoured using Tarte Exposed (colour focusing on hollows of cheeks) and then added a pop of pink on the apple of my cheeks with MAC Well Dressed. Then I used MAC Tenderling to blend the colours together.

Eyes

Chanel quad Prelude is good for contouring the eyes. This palette isn’t too pigmented, and using a fluffy brush (MAC217), I pat a pearl colour on my lids and subtly contour the socket with a dark taupe colour. Using the same taupe, I pulled the colour down the lower lashline to create some shadow. With Estee Lauder Punker Black, I lined my eyes close to my lashline, making it thicker toward the outer corners, ending with a little flick. I kept the brows darker and more defined to make this look appear more sophisticated. A few coats of mascara to defined curled lashes completed the eyes. I don’t wear false lashes often, but I think it will definitely add more oomph to this look.

Lips

For lips, I used none other than Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Luxure. It is a matte red that looks gorgeous on many skin tones.

That completes the look and I hope this breakdown helps you recreate it!

xoxo Lily
