Estee Lauder Double Wear Two Tone Mascara Black Plum

What can I say? I mean, what can I write about a mascara that I have always loved? Estee Lauder mascaras work very well on me and my favourite is the Double Wear Smudge Proof Mascara. Today, I will show you Estee Lauder Double Wear Two Tone Mascara Black Plum which was sent to me a while ago. It’s like getting 2 mascaras in 1 and I love it! However, this is limited edition, so it might still be available, it might not >_<

EL 2tone 1

Yeah, just building a two tower with the mascara which failed miserably. I couldn’t resist though. This 2-tone mascara has 2 sides (DUH!) where the longer brush is black and the shorter brush is plum. The brush on the “black” end is longer and it is straight. The bristles are shorter but it grabs onto lashes quite well. The shape of the brush doesn’t allow it to curl the lashes very much, so a good curl with your favourite lash curler is recommended. The brush on the “plum” end is noticeably shorter with a cone shape. This makes it super easy to grab the small lower lashes while it takes a little more work if I want to use it on my upper lashes. Either way, it still works well. The formula is smudge proof, and removing it is a breeze. All you have to do is to wet your lashes, let it soak the fibre and after a few seconds, the fibres will puff up and fall down like squiggly worms.

I have taken the pictures below just to show you the size of the different brushes against my eye. The formula of this mascara is just right, not too wet, not too dry. It lengthens, separates and defines very well, while adding volume slightly. The bottom row shows only 2 coats of this mascara. While it doesn’t transfer and my lashes remain plush and soft, I find that it doesn’t hold the curls very well. It’s a good thing my lashes don’t point downwards, so I don’t have much to complain at all :-) The plum doesn’t show up very much from afar, and if I scrutinize up close, I do see a tint of reddish plum. When the sunlight hits directly at my eyes, the plum shows up better too. Then again, when do I ever stay directly in the sun? Like, never >_<

Have you tried the Double Wear mascaras before? What about this two tone one? This one costs RM120 which is a little bit pricier than their average one. Come to think of it, if they actually sell smaller sized mascaras in a set of 3 for RM100, I’d definitely grab them! The mascaras will last so much longer than a full size tube, don’t you think?

You`re lucky. No amount of curling will keep my droopy lashes up!

I received a double-ended mascara sample with my EL blush purchase but gave it to a friend instead. It`s hard to part from my go-to mascaras — almost everything else does smudge on me.

Aww, that’s too bad, Liz. What mascaras work for you? Did you mention something about Urban Decay Canon Ball before? Or is it someone else?

      • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

Nope, never used Canon Ball. Tubing mascaras are good but they don’t help with the curl. I like Clinique Lash Power and Lancome Hypnose Star. Got both right now so I’m good. :)

OK so it’s not you. LOL! I have the Hypnose Star in my stash but haven’t really used it yet. I have to try it soon :-)

I have never tried a plum colored mascara before! 100 RM for 3 sounds a good idea! :)

I know right? Selling deluxe samples sound good to me!

Oh boy it looks good. Only benefit they’re real mascara works perfectly on my lashes. I haven’t tried this one but I guess I should.

I like Benefit They’re Real too! The only thing I don’t like is that the spiky wand pokes my eyes all the time >_<

hahhhaa I totally cracked up at your mascara ‘tower,’ man that is great. I’ve actually never tried these before because the few sample mascaras I tried from EL in the past smudged like crazy on me. Maybe I was just using the wrong ones, I’ll go back and check these out sometime. US drugstore mascaras just don’t do it for me unfortunately.

I know right? I just couldn’t resist stacking it! Did you try the smudge proof one? Other than EL mascaras, I also enjoy Dior ones. So far, none of the Dior ones disappoint. My fave has to be New Look but their latest Iconic Overcurl is pretty good too :-)

It’s hard for me because a lot of mascara formulas have parabens :( I need something that doesn’t smudge (most non-waterproof formulas smudge like crazy on me!) but I wear mascara so rarely that I just buy a drugstore one (a L’oreal one is my fave). Maybe if I found a pricy one I liked, I’d wear it every day, and that would justify it? Hahaha!

Oh, I have the same problem. Non-waterproof formula smudge on my lower lashlines. So annoying! I’ve tried some L’Oreal ones and they’re pretty good :-) I still have a few tubes of mascaras to go through, and I don’t think I have to buy anymore for the rest of the year. LOL! And yes, if you found a pricey one that you like, I’m sure you’ll see and feel the difference. Totally justified!!
