My Go To Mascara Of Late: Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara

I never had much luck with Lancôme mascaras. I reviewed one previously, and it was ‘meh’. I was never going to buy another Lancôme mascara ever again, but this Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara was part of the Holiday Collection I got last year. It took me a while to actually open this to use, because I was being very skeptical. Finally, a few months ago, I decided to give it a try. I had low expectations, and perhaps because of that, I was totally wow-ed.

The formula of this mascara is semi dry. It’s not so wet that it weighs down my lashes, and it’s not too dry that it takes forever to build up volume. There’s enough “stickiness” to pull each individual strand of my lashes, lengthening it while coating it with volume. There’s also a faint rose scent. When it was initially launched and when I read that there was a rosy scent, my reaction was WTF… but after using it for a while, I do appreciate a whiff of roses while applying my mascara. Of course it doesn’t last, but it adds that little touch of luxury.

brush

I love the brush of this Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara. It is tapered to a fine point which makes it a breeze to get the little lashes at the inner corners of my eyes. It separates my lashes well, and I see the most difference in volume. When I create smokey eyes, I use 3 coats of this mascara and there is no clumping or the birth of spider lashes either.

In summary, LOVES! It’s up there with my treasured Dior Iconic Overcurl and Diorshow New Look mascaras :-) I’m not sure how much it is since it came in a set, but I can definitely see myself repurchasing this.

What’s your favourite mascara?

Good to know this works for you, coz I hated this one! Dont’ even know where it’s gone to coz I hated it that much LOL :D I guess my lashes play best with cheapy pharmacy/drugstore brands. Everything else either smudes or clumps >.<

Oh woops! Haha! It gets better now that it’s drier too :-) It also makes sense that there are so many different types of mascaras out there. There’s bound to be something for someone!

Looks great on you! Like Paris, this one didn’t do much for me either. It’s so funny how mascaras are such a personal makeup yay or nay. You really won’t know how one performs on you until you try it!

You are so right, Tracy! I didn’t expect this to do so well on my lashes either, what with my previous sucky experience. I’m pleasantly surprised, and I’ve been using it every day. Makeup and skincare are definitely personal, and it’s great that there are so many bloggers out there who will share their different opinions!

I do like the brush, I haven’t had any issues with it clumping and I like the look it initially gives my eyelashes.

    • http://www.chloeash.com Lily

Hi Emma, glad you like this too. I think it’s great that it doesn’t clump even when I apply 3 coats!

I am currently using Lancome Hypnose noir mascara and I kinds like it. I may try this one.

Oh, I hope you’ll like this one too :-)

Ooo interesting! The one I wanted to try next is Dior Iconic Overcurl. To know this Lancôme compares nicely, I might after all get one of the Alber Elbaz I’d been wanting, I just didn’t know which to get. :)

The Dior Iconic Overcurl is great. That one volumizes more than this, and I find that it’s easier to work with that if I have to nit pick! However, this one is still good because I do love the brush very much :-)

I haven’t tried Doll Eyes but Hypnose Star was amazing. Leads me to logically conclude that the Hypnose line is generally pretty good!

Hypnose Star you said? I’m curious now. I have to look at that!

Quite simply my latest favorite too! I’m so glad I bought it from the Alber Elbaz collection :)

It’s quite good, this one… but mine is getting a little dry, so it might be time for a new one soon!
