Sunday Stash Shopping #11
We’re doing minimal makeup today. I have been wearing this look to work, and I find that bright lips brighten the whole face, even with mascara and blush only! I have been wearing some work clothes with colours too, and while this goes especially well with warm colours like green and mustard, it also works when paired with blue. If basics like black, grey and white are your thing, this immediately perks up your face. All you need is to even out your skin, frame your face by filling in your groomed brows, apply 2 coats of mascara on curled lashes and a warm blush.
I have been having good skin days for a while (ahem, jinx go away please!), and I’ve been enjoying foundation free days. Even my skin is less clogged, perhaps due to less products on my face? I can’t be sure. It’s probably due to a combination of the right skin care, better diet and regular exercise. I’ve been able to get away with concealer under my eyes and at the sides of my nose, set with my Guerlain Meteorites which gives a subtle glow but no coverage. I don’t mind showing some freckles on my cheeks, so I never bothered covering them up.
I fill in my brows with my Shu Uemura H9 brow pencil, curl my lashes with my Lunasol lash curler and apply 2 coats of mascara. For blush, I sometimes use my Dior Rose Brazilia and at other times, my Chanel Frivole. The one product that gets the attention is the lip product. I have been enjoying Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus. On me, it’s a bright coral, orange with a hint of red. Compared to my nude fave which is Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel, Heftiest Hibiscus is less moisturizing, but applying my Dior Lip Maximizer first fixes it. Sometimes, I sheer it out then layer Dior Papillon gloss on top and it’s just as pretty.
Here’s a before photo, with only the lip maximizer on my lips. Still ‘meh’, even with blush and mascara.
Then, I apply Heftiest Hibiscus opaque and ka-pow! In your face, baby! (in a good way, of course)
If bright lips ain’t your thang, then use your ring finger to sheer out the lipstick and apply a nude gloss over it for a softer look.
I’ve been enjoying bright lips lately because it gets me out the door fast, and I don’t have to worry about makeup meltdown. All I need for touch ups is this lipstick and we all know it’s easy to swipe and go Hope you enjoyed this look!
