You guys should know by now that I love my Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse right? I’m onto my second huge tub. So when I found out that the line came up with a lighter version of their Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm, I was excited. My skin is not getting any younger, and those light gel moisturizers don’t really do much for me anymore.
Just to make it clear, I have normal combination oily skin, and I do get bouts of drier skin from time to time. It can get dehydrated on the surface, but I would still get oily on the T-zone. Weird right? I don’t like thick moisturizers in the day because that would just make my foundation melt, but at night, I don’t mind richer ones because I sleep in an air conditioned room. I initially had my qualms because the Extra line is for those with really dry skin. So, I used this sparingly, only at night, and on alternate nights too. Anyway, let me talk about the superficial first – packaging and scent. I love my Extra Balm Rinse scent, and this is similar, just less citrus, less tangy. The moisturizer comes in a tub, so if you’re not a fan of dipping your finger into your cream, I suggest using a spatula, like me. The tub is heavy and sturdy, it’s like a mini version of my Balm Rinse
This Extra Repair Moisture Cream is made for those with normal to dry skin and humid climates, and that’s probably why my skin likes it. If it’s any heavier, it might just be too much. This is thanks to the Omega-rich sunflower oil which provides moisturization without suffocating your skin in heavy cream. Another ingredient worth noting is the anti ageing properties of this cream. The Extra Repair Complex which has clary sage extract and Argireline Peptide addresses loss of collagen and dehydration – both of which I am experiencing now. When I apply the cream at night, I massage the cream in (very gently without tugging) then pat the remainder in. It absorbs relatively fast compared to my other richer moisturizers and I wake up without greasy skin at all. I wake up to semi matte baby soft skin, which is amazing! If you look at the cream on my hand, you can actually see that the texture is a lighter weight cream instead of those really heavy balmy paste. So, it glides on the face without tugging I have transitioned to using this cream nightly, and my skin loves it!
I think the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream (RM335/50ml) is spot on for me. I can see loss of firmness on my face, and it’s starting to get more dehydrated as I age, and this cream addresses just that. Love the smell too! However, it ain’t cheap. RM335 for a 50ml product is considered to be the higher end of the price spectrum, but if you’ve been looking for something that effectively quenches your dehydrated skin without the grease, this is it. I can’t say anything about it addressing firmness because I can’t see anything in the one month I’ve been using it, but that Clary Sage Extract is quite high on the ingredients list, so it’s NOT negligible. In time, hopefully, I’ll see some results.
ALSO, I thought I was allergic to Shea Butter, but I’m not. So Yay! Have you tried any Bobbi Brown skincare? What moisturizer are you using now?
