Dior Addict Lip Glow Review: Color Reviver Balm 004 Coral

For most people, this is an overpriced tinted lip balm. Let me tell you right off the bat that you don’t need this, but I do like it. I used up the whole tube of the original one, and now, using this, I remember why I liked it so much. For one, it’s from my beloved brand Dior. Most of Dior’s products work really well on me, so naturally, I am biased. I thought I wrote about the original one, but apparently I didn’t. Guess I HAVE to write about it now :-P

I am not a lip balm person, and Lip Glow to me is like a hybrid of makeup and lipcare. Dior Addict Lip Glow is Dior’s first customized balm and it embellishes the natural color of the lips. Lip Glow reacts differently on individuals. Due to its Color Reviver technology, the colour reacts directly with our unique chemistry hence releasing a different shade of pink or in this case, coral on the lips. I agree with this wholeheartedly because I’ve seen this on other people and they looked different. The original Lip Glow looked red on me, while this Coral one just looks very natural.

The Dior Addict Lip Glow is enriched with wild mango and luffa cylindrica which cushions lips in comfort. My lips feel very comfortable, and after removing this balm, my lips do feel softer and more moisturised. When swatched on my hand, Coral Lip Glow doesn’t look like anything. There’s just a tint of colour, but when applied on my lips, it becomes a light coral which makes my lips look brighter and naturally healthy. It evens out the colour on my lips, gives it a bit of shine, and keeps my lips hydrated.

Unlike the original lip glow, this Coral looks very natural. It’s great because I can pair it with anything. I did a look using this Coral Lip Glow and it’ll be posted next week. So if you’re curious, do come back to check :-) In the photo above, Coral looks similar to my naked lips, but in real life, it is much brighter. The Dior Addict Lip Glow in Coral is limited edition (RM97) and is RM3 more expensive than the permanent one. I wonder why… I mean, it’s just RM3, less than USD1, why bother? Like I said, this is not a must have, but if you’re one who needs a lip balm, then why not try a pretty one? I read lots about Fresh ones, and comparatively, this isn’t that much more expensive. I know I’ll be pampering my lips for a while, and when I don’t know what to wear, I’ll reach for this one :-) What about you?

Haha, thanks for getting this review out so quickly. This is the first one I’ve seen of the Lip Glow, actually. The first one was red??? lol It was like the pinkest of pink on me, and I couldn’t stand it back then and gave it to my youngest sister. Our lips must be completely different! I have to give this a try at the counter. :)

    • Lily

LOL I wanted to get it out before it’s gone. Yeah, the first Lip Glow turned into a deeper pink on me, and it looked red, jelly red… which is not a bad thing :-) Oh yes, do give it a try. This one looks so natural and it brightens our warmer skin tone beautifully!

I haven’t tried the original, actually! This one is pretty. I have to say that I do understand the draw, haha. Maybe it’s overpriced lip balm but if it works, it works!

    • Lily

You’re right. It works, and doubles as a lipstick too :-)

  • TracyBeautyReflections

HMMMMMMMMM. All you Dior lovers KILL me. I’d get this because of YOU now, but DANG it. I want to get some Dior Addicts already. So I’ll just pretend I DIDN’T READ THIS. :P

    • Lily

LOL Tracy… thing is, I’ll be using this again for a FOTD post next week so that’ll remind you :-P So, I think it’s safe to say that you’ll be joining us sooner or later. *evil laugh*

  • Paritashah26

love the packaging and texture reminds me of revlon lip butters!

    • Lily

Oh. So. Much. Better. No comparison!

  • Kate Driveller

I love your straight-talking ways, Lily :D I also really like Dior’s not-quite-lip-colour thingies — the lip polish does magical things for my liplines, but the scent makes me gag :( I am a sucker for coral balms (and don’t own one! The Fresh ‘Coral’ is orange-brown on me) so will be heading to Dior to find this one, stat.

    • Lily

Oh! I hope you’ll like this one, Kate. And yes, I shoot point blank most of the time. Beating around the bush is just a waste of time. LOL!

  • liyeun

Me like the permanent one very much! Yes i agree that this is not a must have, but it is just so pretty! Why didnt they change the colour of the packaging to light coral since they have the rm3 extra????? That would be nice!

    • Lily

LOL Liyuen. I think the RM3 is pretty much negligible?

I love a good coral and a nourishing balm. I wish the color in the tube showed up on the lips a bit better though

    • Lily

Hey Catherine, this is different on every one. It’s actually much brighter in real life… but definitely not as bright as the tube :-)

  • Icaria

Why would you show this to a lip balm addict in the middle of winter? Now I want it! *kicks rocks*

    • Lily

Aaw… *stroke your hair and back* Just go get it then. LOL!

There is no such thing as “JUST a lip balm” in my world–I am OBSESSED with balms, tinted or no. This one is SO so subtle but super pretty–I like that a lot! And the coral color in the tube…waaaaaah, want this so bad!!!

    • Lily

Hahaha then you should go get it soon before they take it off the shelves. I have never been a lip balm girl but this one, I really really like :-)

I loves. I too liked the original and it also got quite red on me. I swooned a bit when I saw this in the store, but held off hoping one of my favorite ladies would review it. Now it’s going on my wish list! I’ve tried 3 different tints from the Fresh line and honestly? I just do not like them at all. They have a very waxy consistency to me and don’t feel amazing on. I’m always surprised at how beloved they are! Fun fact: I gave both my maids of honor the original Dior Lip Glow, and a few other goodies, in a personalized clutch as a thank you for being in my wedding! Both of my ladies are very easy, breezy natural chicks who don’t wear a lot of makeup, so the Lip Glow was a perfect way to give them a luxury beauty item that they’d actually use!

    • Lily

Oh I’m glad you love this too, Kristen! I haven’t tried anything from Fresh because I’ve never been big on lip balm or tinted lip balm, but there’s just something about this Lip Glow… Your maids of honor are ever so lucky to have you as their friend! If they get addicted, then you’ll be responsible for it. LOL!

  • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lily, thanks for the review! I almost never use lip balm during daytime, but now I’m sooo tempted! I’d love to see how it looks “in context!”

    • Lily

Hey Sunny, the post will be up next week – for Looks 9 and 10 of the Smoked Palette. I hope you’ll like it :-)

  • http://rocaille-writes.blogspot.com/ Rocaille

It’s very pretty and looks almost jelly in the tube! I wish it had a touch more color though… but then, it’s Dior, that’s often reason enough to purchase :)

    • Lily

Hi Monika, I think it’ll look really flattering on your rosy lips. You have to try it to see how it looks on you :-)

  • http://makeuptricksandtips.blogspot.com/ fiona furtado

Oh Lily! This is on my wish-list like for such a long time but its always out of stock.Sigh

    • Lily

Oh, I’m going to use up mine, and I hardly use up lip products! I am planning to repurchase this once I’m done, so I’m hoping there’ll be stock here :-P
