Review: Chanel Cream Blush in Intonation

I finally got it! I’ve been reading about Chanel cream blushes so much and I finally caved. Instead of getting their permanent shades, my heart was taken by this pinky coral in Intonation.

intonation

Chanel cream blushes are smaller than I expected, weighing in only at 2.5g compared to the re-released Bobbi Brown pot rouges which have more product (3.5g). Chanel cream blushes are more expensive too! I was doing some comparisons in my head, and then compared the textures as well, and I can tell you that they’re very different. While Bobbi Brown pot rouges (for lips and cheeks) are creamier so that it doesn’t feel awful on the lips, Chanel cream blushes have drier texture which turns to powder on skin. I’m not sure how you’ll like these Chanel ones if you have really dry skin, but on my normal skin, these are great. Coverage can be built and it blends very easily without looking streaky or patchy. I usually apply my foundation then cream blushes before setting everything with powder so I don’t have problems with it sliding on my face. It lasts the whole day on my skin, as most blushes do.

Intonation looks pinky coral on my skin and I don’t think I have another cream blush that looks similar. On my skin, it just looks very natural. Below, I paired Intonation with NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita, and you can see <here> for a different look.

face

Chanel cream blushes retail for RM120 and Intonation is part of their Spring 2014 collection. I think they’re still available. I’m not sure if I’ll pick up another, but if I do, it’ll be Presage :-)  Have you tried Chanel’s cream blushes? Did you pick up anything from Spring collections in general?

The blush is pretty and spring-like, but I really like that lip pencil on you! :D

    • Lily

Hey Larie, I just realised I haven’t written anything about this lip pencil before! Gotta do something about it then :-)

  • TracyBeautyReflections

Pretty pretty blush on you!! I have Presage and I like it too. The texture is so different from normal cream blushes. And I have drier cheeks, but I have no problem with blending. But, the Bourjois ones are pretty much the same thing, so if I get any more, I
ll just get more of them!

    • Lily

Oh good to know it works on drier skin. And Bourjois you said? I gotta try that!

  • liyeun

Yay u got intonation! I got that too and i didnt like how the other, Chamade look on me. I love this! So easy so natural!

    • Lily

Yes! Definitely natural with just a hint of pinky coral. I’m glad I got it :-)

  • http://www.lenallure.com/ Lena L

It is a beautiful color on you and I love the name of it!
I haven’t really picked up anything from spring collection, yet. I did buy a cream blush from Revlon and it seems to have similar texture as Chanel’s. I don’t think it lasts all day on me, though. ;)

    • Lily

We never get the cool stuff from drugstore brands! Guess we’re stuck with the expensive ones. Sheesh!

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com/ Isabelle

I don’t own one of these by Chanel yet, I’m a bit put off by the 2.5g.. I encounter that quite often: wanting to buy something, then ending up looking at the weight and being totally put off. Or perhaps I’m a little stingy ;)

    • Lily

Not stingy at all. I only realised it aftet I got home and it was a totally WTF moment. I do like it very much though so it didn’t bother me AS much. Lol

  • http://procrastinatingpretty.blogspot.com/ TheProcrastinator

Ohhhh it’s gorgeous and perfect! i have a similar colour from Nyx (I think it’s called Hot Pink), but it keeps melting and getting super weird on me. Time for an upgrade!

    • Lily

Oh no, chuck it out already! And get yourself this one. I can’t think of a better valid reason :-P

  • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

*sigh* I really think I need this one. It’s SOOOO pretty on you!

    • Lily

I am 100% sure this will look great on you, Sunny. Get it!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

Oh god, sexy blush. HALP. I might cave to this but something about the texture kind of bugs me. I think I like the dewier sort of cream blush right now.

    • Lily

Lol Liz. I don’t think this is dewy though. Maybe add highlighter on top?

Ha ha! “I’m not sure if I’ll pick up another one. But if I do, it’ll be Presage.” Spoken like a true beauty junkie! I love it! Lovely color on you and this texture sounds like a dream for combo-oily chiquitas! YAY.

    • Lily

Presage is a beautiful coral and I realised that corals are very flattering on me. Who can resist that? Lol!

  • Icaria

Oh shoot this is pretty!!! I’m just so afraid of cream! I know almost everyone like them but I’m so not sure I can master them! *ez scared* :(

    • Lily

Hahaha well then, if you’re not too sure about cream blushes, I say powders are just as beautiful :-)

  • Victoria

You look gorgeous as usual and the colour is lovely :-) Need to consider adding a cream blush to my collection as I do not have any at the moment plus it looks really natural. I know you must have did a post on how to apply cream blushes but just to jog my memory again – you apply using a buffing brush?

    • Lily

Hi Victoria, you can apply using any brush, really, but for cream blushes, I prefer either a stippling brush, or in this case, I used Real Techniques blush brush :-)

  • http://www.zygomaticfiend.com/ Dustyn

I have Inspiration and plan on picking up a few more also x

    • Lily

Cool! I’m still unsure if I’m going to pick up a few more… I really like it, but I’m not wow-ed either :-P

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

What a gorgeous bright colour! It loos great on you Lily! Hmm I am a huge fan of the BB pot rouge, I suppose thought that this is somewhat different in texture, more powdery??

    • Lily

Hey Sofia. Yes, this is definitely more powdery, not as dewy as Bobbi Brown’s, hence looking flatter comparatively.

  • http://bronzerbunny.com/ Joyce (bronzer bunny)

oooh i love this on you! Perhaps i need to get this. :) I got destiny a few months back but haven’t used it yet!

    • Lily

Perhaps you do, Joyce. Hahahaha…. or maybe, use Destiny and see how you like it first? :-P

      • http://bronzerbunny.com/ Joyce (bronzer bunny)

That is what I think I should do lol :)

        • Lily

Of course you have to, Joyce… then write about your experience :-) That’s what we do! LOL!

  • http://aucupariabrumalis.wordpress.com/ Claire

I really like those Chanel cream blushers. I try to stay away from buying more cream products because I already own so many but those Chanel ones deserve a place in my stash. I really like chamade and presage a lot xxx

    • Lily

Oh, I checked out Chamade swatches and it’s gorgeous! I’m glad Chanel is not so accessible to me… or I might just cave. LOL!

  • Lily

Presage is what I’m eyeing, but I already have a beautiful coral from Bobbi Brown. I guess this can wait :-)

  • http://www.scarletbeauty.ca/ Jenn @ Scarlet Beauty

I’ve been on such a cream blush kick lately and this one is simply stunning!

    • Lily

Have you tried any Chanel cream blushes? I still haven’t really made up my mind about it, I mean, it’s nice, but I think I like my Bobbi Brown ones more :-P

  • Lunna

Hi, lily. I am tempted to try cream blush, but i don’t know the best way to apply it :(. Because usually cream blush don’t come with brush.

Do you use brush to apply it?

  • http://beyondjustbeauty.blogspot.com/ Amy

Oh my, this is just lovely! I haven’t tried any of Chanel’s blushes, cream or powder, but I am definitely intrigued. Why must such a pretty shade be LE?!

    • Lily

I know right? I guess if it’s permanent, then people would just sit on it instead of rushing over to get it? LOL!

  • Kristi C.

This is a gorgeous color on you! I haven’t tried any Chanel’s cream blushes. I have just recently tried cream blushes starting with Laura Mercier’s Oleander.
