Project Make A Dent #1

So I’m going to join fellow Lipstick Bandit Monika of Rocaille Writes in Project Make A Dent. I also saw Joyce of Bronzer Bunny writing about it, and thought why not. Basically, I will select a few products where I’ll be making concerted effort to use up, or in this case, make a dent. It all started at Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog, and I think it’s a great idea! Gummy from Gummy Vision is also doing it. If you’re interested, why don’t you join us?

make a dent 1

My Project Make A Dent will focus on makeup, because those are the products I have difficulty finishing. I have no problems with skincare, so I’ll leave the updates on those in my empties posts. For the first post of the series, I’ll be going easy on myself. Unconsciously, I’ve been using a few items regularly, hoping I’ll use them up soon. Here, I have a few items I’ve been trying to use up the last couple of months.

  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Light) – just a tad bit left
  • Revlon Colorstay Concealer (Light Medium) – I can’t really tell, but from the dent that I sometimes spot, I have a quarter left
  • Shiseido Macquillage brow pencil (BR611) – only 3mm left
  • MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil Crayon (Feline) – a third left
  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Lip Gloss (Garnet Desire) – another half tube to go

As you can see, I’ll probably be using up the powder and brow pencil within the month. I’m aiming to use up the rest in the next month. Then, I’ll be selecting a few more items – to at least make a dent in them. Do you have problems finishing makeup, but still buying more? For me, it’s definitely an addiction masked behind the words “hobby” and “blogging”, and while I’m being more selective in accumulating new things, I also feel much better being able to use up old ones.

Do you want to join us?

xoxo Lily

You won’t have trouble finishing these things off though! Good luck though!

    • Lily

Yeah I know. I’ve been trying hard the last few months!

    Get ‘err done girl!

      Thanks Taylor!

Yay, so happy you joined, Lily! From your usage so far, I’m sure you’ll finish your items in no time – and then it’d be fun selecting new ones to focus on :)

    • Lily

Yup definitely. I’m just easing myself into it. Lol hence the nearly used up products :-P

  • Bella

Wow, I’m impressed by how low that powder level is! I definitely have a similar problem. I shall also put together an edit to finish, or at least to make a dent. I was organising my eyeshadow palettes and blushes yesterday and though i do use most of them from time to time, there are just so many that hardly any shade even has a dent.
I use up skin care, concealers, eye primers, mascaras and lip glosses regularly, but collections of everything else just mushroom! I am so in.

    • Lily

Oh Yay! You’re in! It’s good to have a goal and I know what you mean. Using makeup regularly but not a dent. Lol.

Oooh I might want to join! I have some products I’m almost finishing.. The hardest part is always those last bits as I’m always eager to use my newer products :-)

    • Lily

Yes you should join, Isabelle. It’ll be nice to see what products you choose :-)

  • Icaria

Oh this is fun!, I’d love to join but have nothing that’s anywhere near pan. All my makeup is pretty new. Maybe body stuff? :)

    • Lily

Oh, don’t worry about it. For my next installment, it’ll be full of makeup that’s barely touched. So, the point is really to just make a dent – not necessarily hit pan, I don’t think!

I’m kind of done trying to make a dent on makeup for the sake of it. If it happens, it happens. This sort of thing used to be all I ever thought about and it’s nice not to care right now. LOL I’m mighty impressed with your pan though. :)

    • Lily

I can see where you’re coming from since you started your blog trying to reduce. For me, I just really want that satisfaction of seeing some pan action or just use up one lipstick. Lol!

    yayyyyy let’s make dents!

This looks really fun! I have a mental dent list going, maybe I should officially join the club, lol!

    • Lily

Oh you should – that would be so much fun :-)

  • GummyVision

Yay yay!!! I’m so excited everyone is joining in!!! So much more fun (and a lot less tedious) when you are in good company :-) It’s awesome you have so much of the items used up already. Think I’m well on my way to using a gloss but everything else really needs some dent’ing :-( must. trudge. on. LOL :-) Thank you so much for the link!!!

    • Lily

Oh, thanks for spreading such a great idea :-) And yes, we must trudge on. Knowing there are others on the same boat kinda makes things easier, and more exciting!
