Review: Dior Addict Fluid Sticks in Mirage and Pandore

Dior Addict Fluid Sticks are lip hybrids. There have been so many lip hybrids lately, it’s getting a little boring. Truth be told, I received these a few months ago, even before I got pregnant, so it’s definitely a delayed review. I have my reasons for it though. The main one is no secret, with being sick and all, and another is because I don’t know how I feel about them. I’m sure by now, you’ve read a lot about them, that there is no wax in the ingredients, and all sorts of raves. Admittedly, I was very excited when I first got them. I tried them and tried them again but still couldn’t form a solid opinion.

Let me also establish a known fact that I’m not a big fan of glosses. I’d only wear lip glosses that are light and non sticky. So when it comes to lip hybrids, they are supposed to be liquid and they are also supposed to last. It’s not easy to make something very lightweight AND last. The stickiness kinda helps the lasting power, when it comes to glosses anyway. So I was impressed with the fact that these are opaque shades without the tackiness that I expected. They are lighter than thick glosses, but definitely heavier than the Dior Addict Gloss – naturally. The applicator is a flat teardrop sponge which I find easy to use. It offers precision for darker colours compared to a brush I suppose.

I have 2 shades and they are Mirage and Pandore. Mirage is a nude beige that is very wearable. It doesn’t wash me out, and on me, it pulls a little coral. Pandore is a bright shade that looks pink sometimes, and in different light, it also looks like reddish coral. It’s easier to wear Mirage as it is easier to wear light shades compared to darker bolder shades. In this case, I find it patchy to layer Pandore. It is also an especially bright colour for me so I like to wear it blotted down. Once it is blotted, the shine is gone, but gives a beautiful pink stain. The Fluid Sticks don’t last very long on me though. Probably about 2 to 3 hours and it definitely doesn’t last a meal. I usually have Asian food, so maybe it’s greasier? I suppose it would win against a salad. LOL!

Have you tried these Fluid Sticks? There are 16 permanent shades so there’s no need to hurry. I delayed this review with hopes that some of you might have tried it. The texture reminds me a little of the YSL Glossy Stains except the fact that this is more comfortable. I still prefer my Dior Addict lipsticks though. I’m still a loyal fan and the Fluid Sticks did not sway me. What about you?

xoxo Lily

Thanks for the review, Lily! This was helpful. It seems this is a really polarizing product – some people hate them, some people love them, but I think I’d probably be more like you. I haven’t tried them because I don’t think it’s quite what I want, but they sure are pretty!

    • Lily

Oh I’m glad you think it’s helpful. I was thinking whether or not to write about it because it’s been written to death, but I just needed to say something – that is, I don’t know what to say. HAHAHA!

I’m not a huge fan of them either as you know. I haven’t worn them at all since reviewing them. I just find them too tacky. Like you, I LOVE Dior Addict Lipstick fan so I’ll just stick with them!

    • Lily

YES! Dior Addict Lipsticks all the way!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

I probably would have picked one up if I didn’t have all the Shiseido lacquers to contend with. I’m just drowning in lip things and don’t even like having that many. I like these well enough but maybe not enough to pay the Dior prices. I don’t know.

    • Lily

The Shiseido Lacquer Rouges are really nice. I think they’re very different from these Fluid Sticks though.

      • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

Oh, not saying they’re the same or even similar. Just paranoid about all the liquid stuff sitting there, expiring eventually, lol.

        • Lily

OMG I know what you mean. I’ve stopped buying liquid or cream stuff completely for the past half a year or so. They WILL expire >_<

Both look gorgeous on you! I’ve found that I need a good layer of lip balm (preferably lip essence) under these for them to be really comfortable on my lips. If I applied when my lips are dry, then the tackiness is really distinct.

    • Lily

Oh thanks for the tip. I should try that next. I always forget to put lip balm before any lip product!

  • Bella

Those colours look great on you! I have two shades, Wonderland and a pinkier one. I love them as much as the Glossy Stains really. So I bought a Babydoll Kiss and Blush sight unseen, which was a huge mistake since I really hate those on my lips. Oh well.

    • Lily

Oh thanks for the heads up! I was curious about those YSL ones and if they’re drying, then none for me, thanks!

      • Bella

        Desert dry. Seriously, don’t bother.

  • Icaria

I haven’t taken the plunge & don’t plan to for now. They sure are pretty but the formula isn’t calling my name. For the price I’d rather go for a Rouge Dior, for now. :)

    • Lily

Definitely go for Rouge Dior. I think it’s time to get another one since your Grege is running low :-P

      • Icaria

LOL Lily! You know me too well! :D

  • http://glittersmitter5.blogspot.com/ Nida Moughal

Haven’t tried these but Mirage is beautiful and I also eat typical Pakistani Oily food so I think I am gonna stay away from these =p How is your pregnancy treating you?

    • Lily

Hi Nida. My morning sickness has eased off a lot. There are other things to deal with now though. LOL! People tell me that if I’m super uncomfortable during pregnancy, there’s a high chance it’s a boy, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed :-)

      • http://glittersmitter5.blogspot.com/ Nida Moughal

It’s true I was extremely uncomfortable when I had my first boy and this time again I am extremely uncomfortable and itchy. All the very best.

        • Lily

All the best to you too Nida!

Both colors look stunning on your lips! :)
I love Dior Addict lipsticks but adore Fluid Sticks, too! I cannot choose.
I totally agree that Fluid Stick is a lot like the YSL Glossy Stain but creamier and more comfortable. I also find it is similar to the new Revlon Moisture Stain, but Fluid Stick stays comfortable on lips. :)
I don’t see any more shades that terribly interests me from the current U.S. offerings. I hope they will bring out cooler and lighter colors. The darker colors look stunning but end up looking the same once the colors deepen when worn.

    • Lily

Oh we are NOT getting those Revlon Moisture Stains which are getting so much rave reviews! Sometimes I wonder what that brand is thinking. Bleh!

  • http://www.visceralmaze.blogspot.com/ Anu

I have not tried it, but I heard good things about it. I have been trying out the drugstore version of the fluid lipsticks and enjoying it for the most part. We will see if I will splurge on the dior version. the red color looks gorgeous on you.

    • Lily

Thanks Anu. The red brightens any complexion, that’s for sure!

Pandora is so pretty! I want

    • Lily

      Go get it!!

      • http://makeuptricksandtips.blogspot.com/ fiona furtado

        I will :)

      • http://makeuptricksandtips.blogspot.com/ fiona furtado

Yeah for sure. The day it launches in India

  • Shu Ting

I love mirage on you! Somehow, the fluid sticks don’t look “wet” or overly-glossy on you?

    • Lily

I don’t know Shu Ting. They don’t look wet on me at all. Just glossy without being OTT.

  • Jenny W

I love the colours here- but the poor lasting power is disappointing. I think it will be hard to top the Glossy Stains as a long lasting lipgloss/lipstick hybrid.

    • Lily

I have a feeling I’m not too enamoured by all these hybrid lipsticks though >_<
