For this Sunday Stash Shopping, I took some requests. From last week, Larie wanted purple eyes, and Sataa wanted something to pair with plum lips. I thought I could do both of them in one look. I think it turned up quite well. I haven’t been wearing colours much, and this one is quite bold

This week is Bobbi Brown heavy. For the face, I use my beloved Bobbi Brown BB Cream, setting with Dior sculpt powder. I think I’m hitting pan soon For a little flush on the cheeks, I used Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral. I filled in my brows using the Bobbi Brown brow kit.

For the eyes, I used Estee Lauder cream shadow in Smoky Plum as a base before patting Heather on my lids (the ashy purple in my palette). You can refer to the swatches of this customized palette here. I used Saddle to darken the outer corner and Velvet Plum on my lower lash line. I brightened the inner corners a little using Beige and placed Bone on my brow bones for a subtle lifted effect. I lined my eyes using Bobbi Brown gel liner in Gunmetal Shimmer Ink and loaded 3 coats of my Dior Iconic Overcurl mascara.

Picture below shows you the placement of the eye shadows.

The lipstick used is Guerlain Gigolo, blotted for a less dramatic look. I think I can walk around the mall in this look, without looking too vampy, don’t you think?

I hope you liked this look! Now, what shall I do for the next instalment? Hhmmm…

xoxo Lily

My makeup ban was going well. I was resisting the urge to purchase any colours despite the fact that there were temptations everywhere. The beauty blogs that I read don’t help, and I really shouldn’t have gone to check out Suqqu when I was in Bangkok. It was fine when I was just browsing, but as soon as I started swatching, I was a goner. Sumiredama is a limited edition palette, and the complex shades, the duo chromes and different nuances of a single shade killed my ban.

The palette is housed in a black paper box that is sleek and clean. There’s the common velveteen pouch that protects the palette, and the 4 eye shadows are in a sleek white satin compact. It opens to a mirror and 2 eye brushes that are surprisingly useful, but they aren’t important. This, my friends, is da juice!

I had to take these different photos, just to show you how the colours change in different lighting conditions. In real life, the top right and bottom left shades look holographic. You tilt the palette and the colours change! Top left is a shimmering pinky peach while the bottom right is a satin beige. Top right is a light taupe that looks greenish or reddish while the bottom left is a purple with greenish burgundy shimmers. So. Darn. Hard. To describe. UGH! The photos do this palette no justice.

The texture of these eye shadows are perfect. You know they’re powder but they are so buttery and creamy that you might think otherwise. There is no fallout and they are super pigmented. The colours seem to ‘stretch’. When I swatched them, I could pull the colours across my wrist effortlessly. It just glided on, as if the colours are coming out from my fingers… if that made any sense (?!). The colours can be layered for a different effect and these stay on my lids the whole day on top of an eye primer.

I will definitely show you how it looks like worn in another post. This one is quite picture heavy already. I bought it at Isetan Bangkok, Thailand for about RM300 with some loose change. It is expensive. I was debating whether or not to get it, and thought that I probably won’t be going back to Bangkok any time soon, so it was then or never in the near future. I HAD to find out what the fuss is all about, and I am not disappointed. In fact, if you get the chance, go touch it and play with it. You’d then know why it’s so blardy expensive.

This is by far my most expensive eye quad purchase. Since I was going to break my ban, I might as well go with luxury, eh? I’m back on the ban-wagon (pun intended) though Have you tried Suqqu? What’s your most expensive eye shadow palette?

xoxo Lily

Do you remember my most recent Lipstick Bandits post? I was going on about how I didn’t know what coral really is, so I picked a soft and safe shade from Chanel. Then, I read the others’ posts and finally got an idea. I had it in my stash all along! It’s by Revlon – the Super Lustrous Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral. DUH! It’s all in the name, isn’t it?

I don’t think I have to talk about the packaging much because I’m sure you know what a Revlon lipstick looks like. This lipstick doesn’t have too much slip in it, so if you have dry lips, I suggest applying some lip balm 15 minutes before putting on this lipstick. I don’t have much of a problem with my lips so I just apply it straight from the bullet. While it is not drying, the formula for this shade in particular isn’t too comfortable either. It goes on very pigmented but I find it patchy. Definitely NOT one of the best in this line. I didn’t have this experience with other shades, so it might just be this coral.

On my hand, it looks orangey-red, which I learned is coral, and it applies just the same on my lips. The coverage is opaque, and none of the pinks of my natural lip shone through. My skin tone usually pulls out all the pink, but this one just looks red and orange on me. I mentioned earlier that this lipstick goes on patchy. I tried it on top of a lip balm and experienced the same thing. So, I apply one layer, then blot, then apply another layer using a lip brush and buff it in like crazy. This way, it is less patchy and not noticeable. Here is how it looks on me.

While it looks bright and cheerful, I’m not sure I’m too happy with the formula of this one. Have you tried this? How does it work on your lips? I bought this for RM26.80 while it was on sale at Watsons.

xoxo Lily

Bronzers are everywhere. Many blog posts I read are about Summer collections, so I got a little summerlicious bug First off, let me tell you that I do not like looking tanned. I prefer pale and pasty. When I’m tanned, I look dirty. Go figure! However, I see my Dior Aurora (from last year’s Summer collection) staring at me, and I had an itch to use it. I decided to make it a little warmer by layering a base before applying this bronzer. These are the 2 products I used for this effect.

The Lunasol cream blush in EX01 Beige Red gives a hint of pinky blush on my cheeks and when I layer Dior Aurora over it, it looks like a nude blush. I also use a bigger face brush to lightly sweep Aurora on my temples, and instead of applying it on the apple of my cheeks, I swept the bronzer across my face horizontally (left cheek, nose, right cheek and back). I don’t know why I decided to do that, but I thought it was fun.

With my face powder, I dabbed it across the centre of my face, from forehead to nose to chin. This gives a hint of brightening effect on that area, to avoid looking flat. I didn’t use any highlighter because I didn’t want to add bling. Aurora has a very slight hint of shimmer already, and I didn’t want the highlighter to compete with it. This is the end result, 2 photos, taken in different lighting condition.

What do you think? Do you like my combo? Looks like I’ve been in the sun doesn’t it? LOL!

Do you use bronzers? What’s your favourite? How do you like to apply it? Also, there’s a new blush/bronzer duo from Dior’s Birds Of Paradise Collection that is gorgeous! Go check it out

Clinique launched their Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes a few months ago, and it has finally reached our shores. I had my expectations before trying these out, because I’ve only read good reviews. However, those reviews are mostly by bloggers living overseas, with weather less hot and humid than ours. So, how did it fare here?

Like Clinique’s Chubby Sticks, these are a twist up mechanism. I love this because it is hassle free, no sharpening needed, and just super easy. The cap closes with a click so you don’t have to worry about throwing this into your handbag and tote it around. The cap won’t come off. I was sent Fuller Fudge, a lightly shimmery warm brown, borderline bronze. These Shadow Tint for Eyes are quite sheer, so if you want the colours to show up more, you’d have to layer them.

As a cream shadow, this texture is surprisingly powdery. It goes on with less slip, and it tugs a little, but it’s not a complaint at all. The colour is smooth and on me, one sheer layer appears a little patchy. I colour my eyes directly from the tube until I reach the intensity I want, then blend out the edges with my ring finger. It is very easy to apply. If I want the colour to be bolder, I just repeat the step. Fuller Fudge looks very natural on me, and I like to wear it with just a swipe of eyeliner and mascara.

Due to its powdery texture, it doesn’t crease on me until the 6th hour and that’s only on my inner eye where the fold of my lid is. This is absolutely amazing! I don’t apply any primer underneath or any eyeshadow on top to set it either. ON ITS OWN, it lasts on my oily lids for 6 friggin’ hours. After that, the colour fades a little, so I’ll just touch up a little. It’s so easy to touch up too. Just swipe, blend with fingers and ta-dah! I’ve been loving this because my eye makeup can last the whole day looking fresh. All because Fuller Fudge lasts and lasts and it’s just so easy to touch up. Photo below is how I wear Fuller Fudge alone, with just a black liner and mascara. For a full FOTD, you can read my previous Sunday Stash Shopping here.

One Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes costs RM60 and there are 8 shades available. It’s affordable, great quality, and I already have my eyes on the light beige and green one. Are you interested?

I’ve been talking so much about this prior to this review proper, I’m sure you’re either intrigued or sick of it already. Yes, it’s the Dior Diorsnow White Reveal Fresh Transparency Liquid Foundation (RM170). From the previous Diorsnow liquid foundations I’ve tested, they were thicker and heavier than their Dior Nude or Diorskin Forever counterparts. However, this one is different.

I have reviewed a few Dior foundations here before, so you shouldn’t be a stranger to the packaging anymore. The only thing different with this packaging is the revamp of the white cap, in line with the other products in the Diorsnow line. It has changed to a satin white that doesn’t attract finger prints. I was very happy to see this change. I’m a bit anal when it comes to keeping my makeup look clean, so this does help As usual, there’s a pump to dispense the foundation.

At first touch, I gasped. It felt like cool gel but so light that once it is on the skin, it just disappears AND makes the skin look smoother. Many light foundations disappear into skin, and they provide light to at best medium coverage. This one however, gives you medium coverage (can be built up to more coverage) with the texture of a light coverage foundation. How does that sound? The foundation is also infused with Dior’s patented Icelandic Glacial Water, so your skin is kept hydrated the whole time you’re wearing the foundation. While on my normal skin, I don’t feel the need to powder my face, save the T-zone, my face is kept fresh for 5 hours without touching up. And after that, I notice some shine on my T-zone, and just some blotting will take the shine away while keeping the foundation intact. That’s right, no melting of foundation!

Picture below shows the amount you get from one pump, and it is sufficient to cover the whole face and neck. In the un-retouched “before” photo, you’d notice that my face is much darker than my neck. It’s a problem that I’ve had to deal with since forever, so I have to get a foundation that would match my face to my neck and the rest of my body. See the “after” photo? My face and neck match. I am wearing ONLY the foundation, nothing else, so you can see the difference of a light layer of this foundation. My skin tone is evened out nicely, and some light pigmentation is covered too. Also, notice my skin doesn’t look flat. There is still some dewiness maintained, looking absolutely natural, but if you prefer a matte finish, just apply some powder after the foundation.

I have been gushing over this foundation, I know. Since middle of March, this is the liquid foundation I reach for! You asked me what base I was using because my skin looked different, healthier, better… well, this is it Am I going to recommend this? Absolutely! Go try it for yourself, apply it using your fingers and FEEL the difference. I would think those with normal combination oily or combination dry will love this. I can’t say for those with extremely oily or dry skin, and you might need a primer that addresses your concern before applying the foundation. Let’s be real. There won’t be ONE foundation that suits all skin types. However, don’t let it stop you to go try and see if it works for you. Then, let me know!

xoxo Lily

Can you tell I didn’t feel like writing much? LOL! I bought this when I was in Singapore, so I’m not sure how much it costs in Malaysia. I know that you can bring the pencil in their shop to get it sharpened to a flat tip, but I’m happy with using my regular sharpener. There isn’t any Shu Uemura store where I live, so it’s really not worth the hassle.

If you didn’t know, my first makeup love was Bobbi Brown. I dabbled with the now discontinued Kanebo T’estimo and then I discovered Bobbi Brown. It all started with a foundation. Then, the cult favourite gel liner (my first was Ink Black) then the pot rouges and then I had to have myself a neutral eye palette. I’m a neutral fiend, so when they came out with the palette system a few years back, I was totally sucked in. Mine is nothing exciting, given I was still a newbie at makeup (before blogging became part of my life) but I’d still like to show you.

Ta-dah! This palette of mine holds 6 eye shadows, and they are (left to right, top row, bottom row) Bone (matte), Beige (shimmer), Heather (matte), Forest (metallic), Velvet Plum (metallic), Saddle (matte). Bone is a great shade to highlight the brow bone. In fact, this is a back up I purchased while I was seriously hitting pan on the one with the old round packaging. Beige is good for an all over wash of barely there colour while Heather can be used on the crease to add some definition. Forest and Velvet Plum are great for a darker look while Saddle is great for smokey eye AND double up as a brow powder. I have no complaints about the wear or texture. They last on my lids for a good 5 hours before creasing (without primer) and they apply beautifully without fall outs. It is because I fell in love with these that I started to go nuts about other brands too.

Here are the swatches:

It’s been sitting in my drawer for the longest time now. You can see how pristine their condition still is. I think it’s time to use it and re-discover how I feel about them now that I’ve tried so many other brands! That would be fun. Do expect some FOTDs using this palette.

What would you have chosen if you were to pick your own 6-pan eye shadow palette?

xoxo Lily

Today I will be talking about 2 items sent to me a while ago. A Diorsnow edition eye palette Frost Bloom and a face powder called Diorsnow Light Reveal Colour Correcting Powder in 001 Crystal Rose. Diorsnow skin care is one of my favourites, and it is a whitening / brightening range available in Asia. The makeup launched on a yearly basis also promotes just that. A brightening effect for the face. So, face powders are to illuminate, and eye shadows are usually pale, sheer and irridescent. It’s the snowy effect after all

Let’s talk about the face powder first. This year, the packaging has a white satin finish that doesn’t attract finger prints. Imagine the sun shining through a glass window that’s frosted with snow. I like this packaging much better. It also comes with a flat face brush that is soft and very usable. The hair does fall a little, but it’s not a major issue. I’d probably use it when I travel, but at home, I always prefer using my own face brushes.

This year, there isn’t any sprayed on glitter that looks like snow flakes. We get a no nonsense 3 stripes of powder, a matte light beige (1. Even Skin Tone Effect & Pore Coverage), a frosted off-white (2. Transparency & Radiance) and a pale pink (3. Color Correction). What I like to do is to use number 1 on my T-zone, then swirl the brush on 2 and 3 where I want to highlight such as on top of my cheekbones. Number 2 has shimmer, so I try not to apply it on my forehead or it’d look a little shiny. With whatever that’s left on my brush, I’d sweep it on the rest of my face. The reason is, I don’t need much powdering other than my T-zone. The rest of my face is normal – doesn’t get oily, and not dry either. The brush provided easily picks up the individual stripes. With my own face brush however, I have to be a little more careful.

Below is the individual swatch, but once blended, you can’t tell. The finely milled powder sinks into the skin, without leaving any trace of powder. Quite ironic really, but that’s what we want, don’t we? The effect is subtle, and I get compliments on how glowy my skin look. Most of them don’t even notice there’s makeup on my face. I’ve been using this to set my Diorsnow foundation and the effect is gorgeous. You can see it in action here. My face does not look flat and this is my favourite face combo for the last few weeks. Some of you asked what foundation / powder I was using in my last few FOTDs, and babes, this is it

Now, on to the eye palette, Frost Bloom. I think the name is very apt – I imagine pretty pastel flowers covered some a light layer of snow. Truthfully, this palette might not be everyone’s cup of tea. For anyone with medium to dark skin tone, this would be like a palette of highlighters. If that’s what you’re looking for, this is quite a beautiful palette then! The only colour I find difficult to pick up is the one on the top left, while the rest are buttery. I’ve already explained the sheerness and paleness, in line with the Diorsnow concept, so I’m not going to make a comment like – “I wish there’s a darker shade” or “Why are the colours so darn sheer?” However, I am going to tell you that this palette isn’t easy to wear on its own. I HAVE to pair it with a darker shade from my stash or my eyes would look swollen and puffy.

I don’t usually like irridescent pale colours because I find it hard to pull off. However, this is a look I managed to come up with. I added grey liner on my upper lash line to bring together the pale green and pink together. I used a blue liner on my lower lash line, then smudged it using the brightest blue shade in the palette. You might not be able to differentiate one colour from the other because even in real life, I can’t tell them apart >_< On my face, I used Diorsnow liquid foundation, then set with Crystal Rose. I used number 1 all over my face, and mixed numbers 2 and 3 for a subtle highlight at the centre of my nose and on the high of my cheekbones.

I hope you liked the look I came up with. While I can’t tell you to run for the eye palette, the face powder (RM198) is definitely something I recommend… together with the foundation of course (RM170) The review of the foundation will be up later this week.

This week, I decided to go khaki. I pulled out my mini Dior Royal Khaki quint and my Chanel Vert Khaki, along with Urban Decay pencil liner in Stash. Base products are pretty much the same. The same Diorsnow face powder which I have scheduled a review for (watch out for it next week), the Shiseido base that just. won’t. die. (ugh!), the Clarins Vitamin Pink blush that only has a quarter left, my ever faithful brow companion from Shu Uemura (review also out next week), and a sample mascara from Estee Lauder. I also added a highlighter in my routine and rekindled my love for Dior Amber Diamond. For lips, I decided something sheer so I stuck with Clinique Chubby Stick in Oversized Orange.

The emphasis of this look is definitely the eyes. I smudge Stash on my upper and lower lash lines before using Vert Khaki all over my lids. With the gold from Royal Khaki, I highlight the inner corners of my eyes. Sometimes, I’d use the gold to go over my lower lash line for a brighter look, and sometimes I’d just use Vert Khaki on my lower lash line. Finish off with 2 coats of mascara and we’re done. Here is the finished look.

Easy, right?? Of course, we can make it more complicated by adding some black and silver, but I don’t do that for work. Mornings are always a rush (a little morning stress just for that few minutes of extra sleep) so I keep things simple. Something that can get me out of the house in 10 minutes. I hope you liked this khaki theme. Will try another one for the next Sunday Stash Shopping.

Is there a colour in particular that you want me to wear? I’m feeling generous, so I’m taking in requests
